About Superhero Therapy

Superhero Therapy refers to incorporating characters from popular culture, including Superheroes and other characters from books, movies, TV shows and video games into evidence-based therapy (such as cognitive-behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy) to help us to learn to become our own version of a superhero in real life (IRL). It is intended for all ages and has been utilized to treat anxiety, depression, PTSD, chronic pain and chronic illness, substance abuse disorders, eating disorders, and other difficulties.

To date, Dr. Scarlet has trained over 20,000 mental health providers worldwide in Superhero Therapy.

She is also an author of multiple books on the subject, including self-help books, clinician manuals, and now, also fiction books designed to help people better understand and manage trauma, anxiety, depression, and chronic illness.
